The Lithium Ion Battery Trial was conceived and is managed by ITP Renewables (ITP). We are a global leader in renewable energy consulting and project management, with expertise spanning the breadth of renewable energy and energy storage technologies.
For 35 years ITP has been specifying battery energy storage to optimise the design of remote solar photovoltaic / diesel hybrid mini‑grids all around the world. Recently, with rapidly falling battery prices, we have extended this expertise to on-grid applications, now typically using lithium-ion battery technologies. Learn more about ITP here .
ARENA is the Australian Renewable Energy Agency. It was established on 1 July 2012 with two objectives:
- improve the competitiveness of renewable energy technologies
- increase the supply of renewable energy in Australia.
More information about the range of renewable energy, including energy storage, projects supported by ARENA is available on their website.
The test centre is hosted by the Canberra Institute of Technology Sustainable Skills Training Hub.
